DESCRIPTION:INVITATION TO MEETING WITH FINNISH AMBASSADOR TO JAPAN\, MS TANJA JÄÄSKELÄINEN\nDear members of Finland-Japan Chamber of Commerce\,\nDuring 2023\, Japan has steadily begun to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover\, after a long wait for the country's borders to open\, connectivity and connections between Finland and Japan are getting stronger again. Covid didn’t hit Japan’s economy as hard as it did other countries\, but the damage caused by it has been longer lasting. This is partly because of supply chain challenges related to its exports caused by the pandemic and because the country was slower to roll back virus precautions. However\, Japan is finally catching up.\nDuring 2023\, Japan has steadily begun to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover\, after a long wait for the country's borders to open\, connectivity and connections between Finland and Japan are getting stronger again. We now have an excellent opportunity to hear on these issues from a Finnish perspective\, as we have the honour to welcome Finland's highest diplomatic representative in Japan\, our Ambassador in Tokyo\, Ms Tanja Jääskeläinen\, as a guest speaker. We will hear an update on current political and economic affairs. The meeting is held at WTC-Helsinki at Aleksanterinkatu 17 on Tuesday 29th August at 15:30.\nDate: Tuesday\, 29 August 2023 at 15.30 - 17.00Venue: Marski-sali\, WTC-Helsinki\, Aleksanterinkatu 17\, 00100 Helsinki\nPlease register using the form underneath by August 27th.\nWELCOME!\nJuha PitkänenChairman\nMore information on the event from Ville Vuorensola\, ville.vuorensola(a)chamber.fi\n \n  \nTanja Jääskeläinen\nMs Tanja Jääskeläinen is Ambassador of Finland to Japan since September 2022 and to Palau since February 2023.\nPrior to her current position she served as Deputy Director General of Political Affairs at  the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2018-2022) covering Finland’s foreign and security policy  in general as well as a wide range of global political and security issues and international  organizations.Ms Jääskeläinen has also a lot of experience from the Middle East and North Africa regions having served as Special Representative to Syria Crisis (2017-2018) and Ambassador of Finland to Tunisia and Libya (2013-2017) and  previously as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in Damascus (2001-2003).\nShe has worked for the Finnish Foreign Ministry since 1995 including two years as Senior Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs (2007-2009).
